As we celebrate 20 years of Holy Cross Anglican School, we are proud to reconnect with former students and celebrate the journeys they have taken since leaving our classrooms.
In this feature, we share the stories of Vladimir Campos and Kendice Armstrong—two graduates whose dedication, perseverance, and continued pursuit of education have helped shape their paths.
Vladimir Campos
Vladimir attended Holy Cross from 2007 to 2013. During his time at Holy Cross, he developed a strong foundation in reading, writing, and communication—skills he continues to value today.
Part of Vladimir’s journey included spending a year in the United States receiving medical care. Even while away from home, he remained committed to his education, keeping up with his studies at Holy Cross while also staying connected with his high school class. His dedication paid off: Vladimir graduated from both Holy Cross and high school with honors.
One of Vladimir’s favorite memories from Holy Cross was meeting his sponsor, Mrs. Jan Lamb, during one of her missionary visits. He also fondly remembers Mrs. Helen Palacio, a teacher who encouraged everyone and made a lasting impression on him.
Today, Vladimir lives in San Pedro and manages Nayabaz Store. He feels that his education at the primary level prepared him very well for his future goals. He continues to see the value of education and says that if more opportunities for further studies were available on the island, he would gladly return to school.
When asked what advice he would give to current students, Vladimir encourages them to stay focused on their studies while also enjoying their school years. He would also like to see more practical, skills-based learning opportunities introduced at Holy Cross, giving students the chance to develop hands-on skills alongside their academic education.
Vladimir’s journey is a wonderful reminder that challenges do not have to stand in the way of achieving your goals. His determination to continue his education, even while away from home, and his achievement of graduating with honors from both schools are accomplishments we are proud to celebrate.
We are delighted to share Vladimir’s story as part of Where Are They Now? and to celebrate the young student who worked hard at Holy Cross and continues to build his future today.
Kendice Armstrong
As part of Holy Cross Anglican School’s 20th Anniversary celebration, we are proud to highlight former students and the paths they have taken since leaving our classrooms. Kendice Armstrong’s journey is an inspiring example of how determination, continued education, and a willingness to pursue new opportunities can open doors to an exciting future.
Kendice attended Holy Cross from 2009 to 2012 before graduating from high school and continuing her education far beyond the classroom she once knew.
Her academic journey has taken her to several institutions, including St. Catherine’s Academy, St. John’s College Junior College (SJCJC), Memorial University of Newfoundland, and Atlanta’s John Marshall Law School. Along the way, she earned an Associate Degree in Psychology and Sociology, a Bachelor of Science in Psychology with a minor in Business Administration, and most recently, a Juris Doctor (J.D.) in Law.
Today, Kendice lives in Atlanta, Georgia, where she is preparing for the next chapter of her professional journey. At the time of completing her questionnaire, she was not yet working as she prepared to sit for the bar examination in July 2026.
Looking back on her time at Holy Cross, Kendice remembers the independence she developed as one of the most valuable lessons from her early education. She recalls being able to walk to and from school on her own, helping her develop a sense of self-sufficiency that would serve her well as she continued to grow and pursue her goals.
Some of her favorite memories are of Sports Days, when she spent time outside playing games with her friends, followed by the little concert or dance held at the end of the day. These moments of friendship, fun, and community remain special memories from her years at Holy Cross.
Kendice sees her time at Holy Cross as an important part of her overall educational journey. While it was just one step along the way, she recognizes that it helped contribute to the progression that eventually led her through high school, university, and law school.
When asked what advice she would offer to current students, Kendice emphasized the importance of understanding where education can lead. She would like to see more career-focused perspectives introduced at Holy Cross so students can begin to understand the different opportunities available to them and, importantly, what they can do early on to prepare themselves for those opportunities.
Her journey demonstrates exactly that. From a young student at Holy Cross to earning multiple degrees and completing law school, Kendice has continued to pursue her education and challenge herself along the way.
As she prepares to take the next step toward her legal career, we are proud to celebrate Kendice’s accomplishments and wish her every success in the future. Her story is a wonderful reminder to our students that the education you begin today can open doors to possibilities you may not yet imagine.
