Israel Duque
As part of our 20th Anniversary celebration, we are proud to highlight Israel Duque, a member of Holy Cross Anglican School’s Class of 2010. Today, Israel continues to live in San Pedro and has built a career in business, carrying with him the values and lessons he gained during his years at Holy Cross.
After graduating from Holy Cross in June 2010, Israel went on to graduate from San Pedro High School in 2014. His passion for business led him to continue his education at the University of Belize, where he earned a Bachelor’s degree in Business Management.
Israel credits Holy Cross with helping shape not only his academic foundation but also the person he is today. He says the school helped him develop confidence, responsibility, respect, and perseverance, teaching him that a setback should never prevent him from reaching his goals.
One of Israel’s favorite memories is of Mrs. Monica Williams and Mrs. Grace Williams, who encouraged their students to work hard and surpass their limits. Their message that “the sky was never the limit” has remained meaningful to him. He especially remembers Mrs. Monica Williams for her important role in molding the 2010 graduating class and instilling values of respect, commitment, and spirituality.
Today, Israel works as a Warehouse Manager at Castillo’s Hardware Co. Ltd. He feels that his Holy Cross education prepared him for his career by developing critical thinking, discipline, and a strong sense of responsibility—qualities that continue to guide him both personally and professionally.
Looking toward the future, Israel is currently considering further studies. He also hopes to see future students benefit from expanded opportunities at Holy Cross, particularly through vocational training, sustainable livelihood skills, and environmental sustainability projects.
His advice to current students is to recognize the importance of integrity and to uphold strong standards of academic honesty while supporting and helping their peers.
Israel’s journey is a wonderful example of how the lessons learned at Holy Cross can continue to shape students long after they leave our classrooms.
